Two weeks ago I spent a weekend in Idyllwild. One of my classes at Talbot schedules a spiritual retreat into the semester, and I discovered how beneficial it is to get away to a quiet, beautiful place once I arrived. It’s so easy to begin to view quiet time with the Lord in a mechanical, rote sort of way. But oh, how we miss out on enjoying the presence of the Lord!

The best part of the weekend was early Saturday morning when I sat on a rock overlooking the the gorgeous valley. With my hymnbook in hand, I sang hymns of praise and then prayed through the Lord’s prayer. I found my soul refreshed after this weekend away.
